Die weiteren Aussichten

In the organizer's words:

Anyone who has ever been to a party in a shared flat knows what Die weiteren Aussichten sound like: People dance to 2000s indie rock in the living room, tears flow during deep conversations in the kitchen, someone tells jokes and in the end you go home with new friendships and a pinch of melancholy.

The lyrics are so direct and honest that sometimes you wish they would lie a little more. Isolation, loss and the absurdity of life meet everyday observations that get under your skin. In 2024, the project was awarded the prize for Best Lyrics at the local heroes national final and was accepted into the renowned Popkurs Hamburg and the top pop rlp Masterclass funding program.

Born in 2023 as a creative compensation after quitting a job, music had only been therapy for the project for years, something private. The first public performance was an open stage at a festival: seven hours of hotel room rehearsal, lost at the first chord. Nevertheless, he continued. Or precisely because of that.

In 2024, the self-produced EP Heiter bis wolkig was released with the single Die Makrele, which was not entirely satisfactory and has since been streamed 45,000 times on Spotify. Anyone listening to the songs might mistake them for a quiet singer-songwriter project. Live, Die weiteren Aussichten are more energetic and rousing, with distorted guitars that take the sound to a new level.

Die weiteren Aussichten played live at festivals such as Open Ohr Mainz, which was a great success. 2025 then retreated to the studio. Support shows for bands such as Nichtseattle and Endless Wellness were the project's only appearances in the spring.

Musically, Die weiteren Aussichten moves between German indie greats such as Kettcar and Thees Uhlmann and international insider tips such as Frightened Rabbit or We Were Promised Jetpacks. It's as if German sprechgesang meets Scottish post-punk: melancholic but never melancholy, honest but never self-pitying.
