As part of the "Kulturland Schleswig-Holstein" series, the Schleswig-Holstein State Parliament and Investitionsbank Schleswig-Holstein (IB.SH) are presenting the first joint exhibition of ten scholarship sites in Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Lower Saxony.
For most artists, it is important in their development to leave their own four walls and engage with other contexts and people. Artists' residences and fellowships give them the opportunity to do this. They serve as work and meeting places for artists and cultural practitioners from all over the world who are guests here. Financial and logistical support ensures good working conditions, facilitates networking and dialog and opens up cultural and interdisciplinary exchange. Artists' residences are temporary hosts for national and international scholarship holders, but also interfaces between art and society. In this way, they make important contributions to local cultural life and international understanding.
The network of artists' residences in northern Germany, founded in 2018, aims to make the potential of these scholarship and production facilities more visible.
In their group exhibition in the Landeshaus, the houses represented in the network provide an insight into their work and show the results of their scholarship stays - artistic positions as colorful and diverse as their "guests".
