Once again, Munich actor Moritz Fitzek will be performing Patrick Süskind's 90-minute monologue "Der Kontrabass". The play, which premiered in 1981, is one of the best-known and most frequently performed plays on German soil.

The plot
Just under two hours until the opera premiere. Enough time for the double bass player to have a beer or two and talk about the basic, central, most important orchestral instrument par excellence: The double bass. This wonderful foundation of musicality par excellence, this hideous, clumsy, inelegant instrument from which you can't get a single beautiful note. A musical love-hate relationship that mixes with philosophical thoughts and an unfulfilled love. The double bass provides an insight into the everyday life of a disappointed little man who would like to be a great man.
