Diego Piñera

Diego Piñera has already proven several times that he is one of the most exciting drummers in contemporary jazz and knows how to build a good band. The 42-year-old's career has taken him from Uruguay to Cuba, from the USA to Berlin; and from eight released records (two of them on ACT Music), hundreds of concerts on four continents to a Grammy nomination, an Echo Jazz Award and, most recently, the German Jazz Award 2023.

Scott Colley, Donny McCaslin, Ben Monder, Sebastian Schunke, Joo Kraus, Omar Sosa - just a small selection of the list of Diego's collaborations - makes for exciting reading. As a lecturer at the universities in Dresden and Osnabrück, Diego Piñera also teaches future generations how to play with rhythms.
