Dirk Schäfer singt Jacques Brel: »Doch davon nicht genug«

First performed in 1999 on the studio stage of the Schauspielhaus Kiel, the chanson program, which was celebrated by the audience with standing ovations and the press as a "total work of art", was soon transferred to the main stage and invited to major stages and festivals throughout Germany.

Dirk Schäfer's grandiose homage to the famous Belgian chansonnier soon achieved cult status in Kiel after its premiere 26 years ago - Schäfer sings and plays, congenially accompanied as usual by Karsten Schnack (accordion), Ferdinand von Seebach (grand piano) and Wolfram Nerlich (double bass). Together with Ellen Dorn he directed the show and together with Geneviève Granier-Nerlich he translated most of the chansons into German.

"Vingt ans d'amour, c'est l'amour fol!" wrote and sang Jacques Brel in "La chanson des vieux amants". "Twenty years of love, that's crazy love!" 26 years even more so!
