The new hospital planning in NRW focuses on specialization, centralization and outpatient care - and has been in implementation for over six months. Time to take stock:
Even in critical, sensitive areas, services are increasingly being reduced and wards closed. In the Düsseldorf area and the southern district of Mettmann, the planned closure of an emergency department jeopardizes the entire regional acute care - with dramatic consequences for patients, emergency services and hospital staff. There is also a risk of gaps in care, particularly for premature and newborn babies, women and stroke patients.
In the event, we will first take a fundamental look at the hospital landscape and the reform with its first noticeable effects - with a special focus on Düsseldorf, Langenfeld and the Mettmann district. In particular, we will also look at it from a feminist perspective, as FLINTA*, as the largest group of those affected, are burdened in multiple ways - as patients, employees and caring relatives.
In the second part, we will discuss with voices from politics, administration, companies and civil society: What do they think about the reform and what do they want to do specifically to tackle the problems that arise on the ground?
