With asking rents of just under €25/m², Munich is considered the most expensive city in Germany. At the same time, the city has announced a drastic reduction in housing subsidies - with even more dramatic consequences for the coming years. Many people are already spending more than a third of their income on rent - a redistribution from the bottom to the top.

The community-funded documentary "Sold City - The market-driven tenant" sheds light on the situation of tenants in European cities (including Munich), shows the causes of the price explosion and highlights the alternatives and forms of resistance that exist. It also raises the question of why fundamental land reform is necessary.

Die Linke München-Ost will be showing both parts of the film on two evenings at the Rio Filmpalast, each followed by a discussion with interesting guests. Among others, the filmmakers Leslie Franke and Herdolor Lorenz from Hamburg, Aurora Fracasso(Deutsche Wohnen & Co expropriate) and affected tenants from Munich will be present
