DON KARLOS: FAMILY AFFAIRS

DON KARLOS is a political thriller and family drama, a chamber play and world theater, oscillates between soap and suspense, is House of Cards in verse.

There are rumblings on the external borders and conflicts within: Don Carlos, the heir to the throne, loves Elisabeth, but she is now married to his father, King Philip. Princess Eboli is unrequitedly in love with Carlos and swears revenge. When Carlos' childhood friend, the Marquis of Posa, turns up and demands his now famous freedom of thought, the court is finally in turmoil. In the midst of all the confusion, Karlos, twenty-three years old and having done nothing for immortality, wonders how the kingdom and the whole damned world can go on.
