DortmUnderground 1978 - 1998

In the organizer's words:

The "DortmUnderground 1977 - 1998" exhibition offers deep insights into over two decades of subculture and alternative scenes that found their expression in Dortmund. From the beginnings of punk and heavy metal to the squatter scene, discos, improvised clubs and legendary concerts, the exhibition spans the arc of a vibrant DIY culture.

On display are real finds from the time: crumpled flyers, posters, records and tapes, concert photos with flash patina, self-copied fanzines and memorabilia with a history. All of this tells the story of a generation that did its thing loudly, creatively and uncompromisingly in the beer city.

The exhibition is accompanied by an extensive 144-page catalog that not only captures the material on display, but also provides deep insights into the heart of a scene with interviews and eyewitness accounts. In addition, three live talks will be held in cooperation with the podcast Natürliche Ausrede - and on the last day (November 2), some of the exhibits will be auctioned off for charity at the finissage.
