In the glitz and glam of the casting show aesthetic of the early 2000s, ambitious singer Mimi Madamour (Louiza Aura) meets local punk icon Billie Kohler (Gio Ventura) at a casting show. During Mimi's rapid rise in the world of pop, a passionate and dramatic love story unfolds between the two. In the glitter of the pompous aesthetics of the pop music scene at the turn of the millennium, we follow the couple through a shrill, toxic rollercoaster ride of emotions - accompanied by iconic original songs. In classic director Alexis Langlois style, "Drama Queens" is shrill, loud and queer through and through, drawing on elements of camp and horror. The result is a spectacularly satirical pop epic that impressively stages the darker side of show business - riddled with pain, passion and the insatiable hunger for fame.
