Wolfgang Borchert: Outside the Door

The musical and visual space is created by the pianist Masako Ohta and the 'Wund-Bildern' (Wound Pictures) by Walter Raum, an artist of the post-war avant-garde, who processed his own war traumas in them.

The drama from 1947 shows the individual and social traumas left behind by the war. When Beckmann, a war returnee, returns to a destroyed Germany, his longing to belong remains unfulfilled. Society wants to repress and forget. He finds no answer to the question of "how to go on living".

In the current political situation - 80 years after the end of the Second World War - this confrontation with the consequences of war and violence is once again an urgent topic that also appeals to society's responsibility towards refugees and displaced persons.
