In the organizer's words:

Maybe you can't explain a choreographic work in language. Maybe you shouldn't. When asked what the work is about, the correct answer is: well, I have no idea, we'll have to wait and see. The only thing that is predetermined in a choreography by Emanuel Gat is the HOW. The WHAT, the WOVON and the WHY are all elements that emerge from the action.

Asking what a choreographic work is about is almost like asking what the score is before the start of a soccer match. Nevertheless, the invitation to such a live experience contains what has actually already been decided.

Emanuel Gat's work with the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company will focus on two songs from Gustav Mahler's song cycle "Das Lied von der Erde". Two sections with the songs "Der Einsame im Herbst" and the last from the cycle "Der Abschied" frame a third, central part without music. Completely different for each performance, the work follows principles according to which the choreographic future cannot be prescribed. It must be rediscovered by the dancers each time they embark on the work. Welcome to this experience!
