SEDIMENTE (CH 2025, 81 min.) by Laura Coppens

Remembered, forgotten, repressed, justified. A grandfather who lived through National Socialism and the GDR. A granddaughter who questions him about it. Letters, home videos and a Stasi file that reveals contradictions in the narrative. "What do we do with what we have memorized?" he types in a typewriter beat, while the narratives of German history come to light between the stairlift, exercise bike and Sudoku. "You'll have to tell me what the movie is for," teases the grandfather.
