IN THE MORNING LIGHT - DUOLIA. DEBUT ALBUM (09.05.2025)

Like a hug you didn't know you needed: that's how DuoLia.'s debut album feels after the first listen. While warm guitars create a world of absorbent cotton with a sky full of violins, longings and insecurities emerge like shadows under the clouds on a lyrical level. Alia Viola Wüschner and Julia Maria Jackel find words for the quiet ones, empathy for sensitivity and try to sort out the emotional chaos of growing up.

"In The Morning Light" focuses on the duality of experience: the sunrise is not only hopeful, but also the incomprehensible end of endless nights in "Intertwined". Framed by the finely nuanced band sound with Tino Liangos on bass and Julian Berann on drums, there are twelve different soundscapes on the album: from declarations of independence and found self-confidence as in "Watch Me" to confusion and hopelessness as in "Up for Sale", DuoLia. move like ebb and flow in the sea of emotions.

Musically, "In The Morning Light" can be located in the songwriter-indie-folk genre, even if numerous influences can be sensed throughout the entire length of the album. It manages to walk the fine line between the simple and the complex, the direct and the subtle. A record with gentle melodies and catchy choruses that are surrounded by unexpected twists and turns. Particularly noteworthy is the intimate two-part harmony, which reflects the friendship between Alia and Julia that has existed since childhood.

In order to realize their artistic vision, DuoLia. found a producer in Julian Berann who has significantly shaped the sound of the album. With his many years of experience as a drummer (for Alice Phoebe Lou and James Hersey, among others) and his keen sense of music, he was a wonderful addition to the duo. With the support of Cohen Yusha (mix, master) and Sarah Raffaela Jackel (artwork), DuoLia. has finally succeeded in creating a debut album that demands to be heard.
