"An Aquarium Full of Keys" is a multi-layered collection of short stories and snapshots from Kharkiv, Yuriy Gurzhy's home town. In it, the musician, composer, DJ and author interweaves personal memories with the present of a country scarred by the Russian war of aggression. Gurzhy's texts are accompanied by photographs taken by his father, which have influenced him since his childhood. Some of these photographs - including black and white films from the late 1960s - were only rediscovered in 2024. They show familiar people and places, document the transformation of Kharkiv over time and tell quiet stories of continuity and loss. The combination of image and text creates a haunting portrait of the city that links past and present - poetic, political and deeply personal.

Yuriy Gurzhy was born in the Ukraine and lives in Berlin. He is a musician, DJ, producer and radio presenter. Together with the German-Jewish writer Wladimir Kaminer, he initiated the legendary party series "Russendisko".
