Journalist and filmmaker Samuel Häde (31) takes his audience on an extraordinary journey around the globe - from his first steps as a backpacker in India after leaving school to his elaborately produced documentaries for ARD and ZDF.

Alone with a donkey, he crosses the remote north-east of Afghanistan and lives with nomads in the Pamir Mountains. Samuel cycles through the Himalayas, spends lonely nights in coin laundries in Japan, hitchhikes across the USA, loses sight of his caravan during a desert trek in the Sahara and narrowly escapes being stoned to death in Jamaica.

In India, he meets the love of his life and, with the help of locals, builds himself a bamboo raft to travel the mighty Brahmaputra - the third largest river on the subcontinent. He researches femicides in Mexico, searches for traces of the influence of the Islamic State in the conflict regions of the Philippines, emigrates to Georgia and reports from the Ukraine front on the increasing Russian influence in Europe.

With impressive film footage, personal insights and lessons learned from over a decade on the road, Samuel shows how traveling has not only changed his view of the world, but also of life itself.
