In collaboration with the Museum Angewandte Kunst, the Jazz Montez music association, the Emma Metzler restaurant, the AMP music bar and World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026 are once again inviting you to the EL BARRIO DE EUROPA music and culture festival this summer.

With live music, DJ sets, a food court and a creative range of workshops, a diverse open-air experience will be created in the museum park. Live bands and DJs will provide musical entertainment on a stage in Metzlerpark and on the terrace of the Emma Metzler restaurant, while various stalls will offer selected international food and drinks in the museum courtyard. On two nights, a club will be set up on the first floor of the Museum Angewandte Kunst where you can dance to electronic music.

A large number of exhibitions will pay tribute to this year's 100th anniversary of New Frankfurt. Walk-in workshops by our education department Create and World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026 invite visitors to get creative themselves and make folding hats, build a WDC stool or print their own slogans. ENGAGEMENT GLOBAL gGmbH will be a guest at the historic Villa Metzler with the exhibition Stoffgeschichten - über global bewegte Materialien and will be taking part in this year's Museumsuferfest with guided tours and workshops on fashion and sustainability.

On the stage in Metzlerpark, live bands and DJs will provide visitors with a varied range of music. This year, the festival combines the best of Frankfurt's music scene with special program items: On Friday, the Riverside Session invites you, on Saturday the focus is on Frankfurt luminary Shantel, and on Sunday the Random Circles format enriches the program. In addition to local highlights, different cultures will once again be presented - from a Senegalese percussion circle and a Brazilian roda to the Midnight Fire Band, which was founded by Jazz Montez as part of the Holidays and is dedicated to Afrobeat. We also welcome international guests: the celebrated singer and DJ Jitwam, the Belgian singer K.Zia, the Parisian live beat performer SOW and internationally renowned DJs such as DJ Hell and Kikelomo. Once again this year, the AMP resident DJs will round off the diverse musical program on the terrace of the Emma Metzler restaurant.

Visitors can sample a variety of delicacies at the food court in the museum courtyard: There are tacos from Taqueria Sonora, gyozas from Emma Metzler, oven-fresh focaccia from Restaurant Yaldy as well as specialties from Mein Noko and the Okay Baby team. Suitable drinks and refreshments will be provided by Due Mani with coffee (hot & cold brew), Studio Tuesday with the finest matcha, creamy ice cream from Palina, unusual highballs from Bar AMP and wine straight from the tap at Ebbflowkeg.

In the evening hours, beer mats printed with questions invite you to join the World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026 team in discussions at the bar and contribute your own perspectives on the topic of Design for Democracy. There will be a (non-alcoholic) WDC signature drink as a thank you for each coaster discussed.

3-7 p.m.: Your hat - your message
In this workshop, participants can design their own folding hat. With a design by schmitthut, illustrated by von Zubinski. Without registration. A workshop by World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026. The workshop will take place in the museum courtyard.

The exhibitions Was war das neue Frankfurt? and Yes, we care typographically translated: participants design their own slogans using letter and shape templates and print them on paper. 12-7 p.m.: Show attitude
Build a one-legged WDC democracy stool based on a design by Dipl. Des. Klea Schlimm and M.A. Mira Müller. Limited number of pieces, material costs: 15 euros per stool, registration on site.
