Saisoneröffnung mit Lahav Shani

In the organizer's words:

A floating chord, a longing, enigmatic sound: Richard Wagner heralded the end of major and minor keys with the "Tristan Chord", thus giving the starting signal for the harmonic discoveries of the 20th century. Lahav Shani, who will take up his post as Chief Conductor of the Munich Philharmonic in September 2026, is placing this work, which broke new ground in many respects, at the beginning of the 2025/26 season, which has the motto "Discoveries". Edward Elgar's introspective, deeply emotional Cello Concerto, his last major orchestral work, played by the incomparable Sol Gabetta, shows that not all subsequent composers immediately followed Wagner's chosen path full of curiosity. Franz Schubert's B minor Symphony went down in music history as the "Unfinished", a bold work full of secrets and unanswered questions.
