Elsbeth Bauer Archive of a vulnerable world

The exhibition Archive of a Vulnerable World shows a series of photographs that deal with the fragile beauty of our natural environment. It attempts to examine the discrepancy between the aesthetic perception of nature and its real vulnerability. The focus is on plants and flowers, whose transience is captured in a reduced, timeless visual language. The predominant renunciation of color serves to detach nature from its usual context and make its forms and structures visible.

The photographs capture moments in which life and decay meet. Light and shadow emphasize the textures and contrasts of the motifs and reveal a multitude of details that are often overlooked in everyday life. The works attempt to depict ecological themes in a poetic way and to remind us of the fragility of our environment.

Archive of a Vulnerable World is an attempt to encourage an examination of the state of nature in the context of climate change and environmental pollution. These works not only document natural processes, but also reflect on how humans relate to the environment. The exhibition invites us to pause, to perceive the beauty of the ephemeral and to rethink our own relationship with the natural world.
