The time has finally come: Emil is allowed to go to Berlin. His mother has been saving up for a long time! He carefully secures the money in his jacket. But when he gets off the train in Berlin, it's gone. Just like the mysterious man with the hat. Let's go after him! Emil doesn't dare go to the police about the stolen money. After all, he has painted a red nose and moustache on the statue of Grand Duke Karl at home. So he has to become a detective himself. Luckily, Emil meets a whole gang of detectives in Berlin. How do you recognize the gang? Well, by the slogan "Emil" of course! Together, they don't let the nasty villain get away with Emil's money. Speaking of bad villains: Juli Mahid Carly is staging Erich Kästner's classic in the Cologne version of the Comedia for the Junge Nationaltheater. The story is told from the perspective of three prison inmates. After all, what could be more effective as a re-socialization programme than a play about courageous detective work and justice? Juli Mahid Carly is an author, theater director and performer and works in the municipal theater context as well as the independent scene. At the Junges Nationaltheater, Juli was involved as an author in the series "Kliffhänger 1-4" (8+), which was performed in the 2021.22 and 2022.23 seasons.
