Kammerkonzert »Entdeckungen« im Münchner Künstlerhaus

All musicologists dream of such a discovery: in 2024, employees of the International Mozarteum Foundation came across a copy of a previously unknown work by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in the Leipzig Municipal Music Library. Entitled "Serenate ex C", the string trio dates from Mozart's youth. In a very short time, this sensational find has gained a fan base as "Ganz kleine Nachtmusik". K. 590 is not a youthful work, but Mozart's last string quartet. It was written for King Frederick William II of Prussia, who played the cello, and Mozart upgraded the cello part accordingly. This chamber concerto contains two further discoveries: The Syrian violinist Maias Alyamani is regarded as one of the leading Arab artists and has worked as a soloist and improviser with musicians such as Yo-Yo Ma, Daniel Barenboim and Gidon Kremer. The Havana-born composer, arranger and violinist Jenny Peña Campo currently lives in Munich. Her compositions have been performed at the Rheingau Music Festival and the Philharmonie de Paris, among others. In their works, both interweave the musical traditions of their cultures of origin with contemporary classical music.
