Carsten 'Erobique' Meyer is his own genre. After every bus with the latest disco revival has driven past him and back again over the past 25 years, there's no other way to put it. When it's "Erobique is in town" in the big cities, many dance-loving people between 18 and 80 look forward to sweaty, no: sacred hours full of improvised disco licks, hair-raising vocal interludes and hits such as "Urlaub in Italien", "Easy Mobeasy", "Überdosis Freude" and much more. As Germany's self-proclaimed last disco punk for the time being, the "living disco ball" (FAZ) enjoys breaking up the monotony of beat-mixed laptop DJ culture and thrilling his fans with sweat-inducing dance marathons, spontaneous ballad interludes and wildly quoted wedding oldies. Erobique releases are rare, but his concerts, not least his regular Berlin New Year's concerts, are always so good that you can't be hungover enough not to turn up. Carsten Meyer was and is also super busy in other respects: with DJ Koze and Cosmic DJ he founded the band International Pony, which released three insanely good albums, with Jacques Palminger he created the "Songs For Joy" series, which recently opened another chapter - accompanied by a documentary film, he produced Fraktus (only the reissues of course, nobody is that old), wrote the music for "Der Tatortreiniger" and "Die Fremde Familie" and and and. Plus, underneath his furry, fierce bear shell, he's a soul of a man! Welcome back, Satan! <3
