Eröffnung 76. Essener Lichtwochen

The 76th Essen Light Weeks traditionally start on the last Sunday in October, October 26, 2025. Look forward to a glamorous day with many great program items. The stores in Essen's city center will be open for business from 1 pm to 6 pm . Walking acts and music groups will provide additional entertainment. At 6 pm, Lord Mayor Thomas Kufen will officially open the Light Weeks in front of the Grillo Theater and - accompanied by the Schönebeck Youth Wind Orchestra and experienced stilt walkers - take a tour through the illuminated city. The traditional highlight is the fireworks display on Kennedyplatz at 7 pm . Musician Vio Leen will be setting the mood for the glittering finale from 6 p.m., DJing from 6 to 6.30 p.m. and playing the violin until 7 p.m.

In the city center:
13.00-18.00: Marching band and walking acts in the city center

In front of the Grillo Theater:
18:00: Speech by Lord Mayor Thomas Kufen with sign language interpreter
Tour with Lord Mayor Thomas Kufen, the Schönebeck Youth Wind Orchestra Essen and stilt walkers
