Eröffnung der Wanderausstellung: #ChallengingDemocracy – Von Helmut Schmidt bis heute

In the organizer's words:

Democracy is a challenge - every day. What protects our democracy, what threatens it and how sustainable is it? These are the questions posed by the exhibition #ChallengingDemocracy - From Helmut Schmidt to today by the Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt Foundation (BKHS). It takes a biographical look at Schmidt as an actor in contemporary history, links the historical themes and debates of the 1970s and 1980s in the Federal Republic of Germany with current challenges and asks visitors, and at the same time all of us, what contribution we want to make to the future of democracy.

The exhibition will be officially opened with welcoming addresses by Torsten Wiegel, Deputy for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport of the state capital Potsdam and Dr. Meik Woyke, Chairman of the Board of the Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt Foundation. Curator Dr. Magnus Koch will give an introduction to the contents of the exhibition. Afterwards, a small reception will offer the opportunity to exchange ideas and walk through the exhibition - the curators will give an exclusive guided tour.

The exhibition is being shown in cooperation with the Potsdam City and State Library at the Bildungsforum Potsdam.
