On Monday, October 13 from 7 p.m., the opening of the exhibition"Shifting the Silence. Shifting the Silence" takes place. The Lenbachhaus cordially invites you and your friends to attend.
The exhibition aims to make a central concern of "Shifting the Silence" its own: reflecting on the difficulty of fully putting works of visual art into words and making them tangible. Linguization - i.e. the translation of artworks and aesthetic experiences into words and language - is a challenge in many respects. Language is not only a means of communication, it is also limited and sometimes even a hindrance when it comes to conveying complex impressions and perceptions. Etel Adnan proposes to "shift" silence - in other words, to expand the boundaries of what can be said and not to rationalize the poetic nature of the many forms of expression in the arts, but to accept it as an intrinsic value.
With speeches by
Dominik Krause, Second Mayor of the City of Munich
Matthias Mühling, Director of the Lenbachhaus
Eva Huttenlauch, curator of the exhibition
