Let yourself be inspired at the end of the year by the thoughts and texts of two important writers who revolutionized German literature in their own way and celebrated their 150th birthdays this year:
Thomas Mann and Rainer Maria Rilke.
The literary contributions are rounded off and complemented by old German Christmas carols for two guitars as well as selected compositions
by Friedrich Nietzsche, Alban Berg, Adam Darr and Hugo Wolf, among others.
The musical accompaniment will be provided by the award-winning
Niehusmann Guitar Duo, consisting of Judith and Volker Niehusmann. They draw on a broad repertoire of chamber music for lute and guitar from the Renaissance to the 20th century. In addition to their concert activities, the winners of the City of Essen Culture Prize regularly give
master classes.
Jörg Mascherrek is an art historian and educator. He has been designing literary programs on William Shakespeare, Michelangelo and Auguste Rodin, among others, for many years. Together with the Niehusmann Guitar Duo, he has also created musical and literary programs on Baroque poetry and the Advent and Christmas seasons.
