The woman with the flower-patterned dress finally rises from her bed. In the heat of the room, her past lingers as if in vapor: the past of a hidden Jewish child. The Thanksgiving turkey in Chicago swallows the black amen of the man praying for peace for the children of Palestine, while at the other end of the table a thanksgiving is said to the American president with a white amen. Goyish partners of the survivors
appropriate their "reparations", and finally the Russian rabbi also refuses to return the pre-war grave in Berlin-Weißensee. A pile of dollar bills is a crazy family scenario between Berlin, Chicago, Heppenheim, Rome and back again.
