Eydís Evensen is one of Iceland's most remarkable musical exports - a composer and pianist whose deeply emotional soundscapes have quietly captivated audiences around the world. Classically trained but guided by instinct and emotion, Evensen creates music that transcends genre boundaries: She moves between modern classical, ambient minimalism, cinematic composition and quiet introspection. Her work is rooted as much in emotion as in technique - music that not only speaks, but also listens.

Growing up in the windy northern town of Blönduós, where the harsh Icelandic landscape shapes every aspect of life, Evensen began composing at the age of seven, inspired by a snowstorm whipping against the windows of her childhood home. This first composition set the tone for everything that followed: Beauty wrapped in fragility, movement born of stillness, and a deep emotional connection to nature.

Her debut album "Bylur" (2021), released by Sony Masterworks under the XXIM Records label and named after the Icelandic word for "snowstorm", is an intimate and moving collection of piano pieces and string arrangements that trace her emotional journey from childhood to adulthood. It is an album characterized by loneliness, uprootedness and memory - a modern classical diary engraved in sound. With her second album for XXIM Records, The Light (2023), Evensen expanded her sonic palette, introducing choral arrangements, subtle electronics and - for the first time - her own voice. It is a powerful meditation on healing and resilience, written in the wake of personal trials, global uncertainty and her growing concern for the ecological fragility of her homeland.

Evensen's music is driven primarily by emotion. Her compositions are raw, graceful expressions of what it means to feel deeply - to grieve, to hope, to reflect, to move forward.
