EYPA – Workshop & Konzert

In the organizer's words:

An EYPA concert is more than just music.

Being together, being part of something bigger, that's what the Arabic word كن") Kun"), which adorns EYPA's nickname, stands for. كن means "being" and symbolizes what the Arabic-German duo wants to achieve with their music: Being in the here and now.

In their music, Eyad Ghannam (e-oud - an Arabic short-necked lute) and Paul-Aaron Wolf (drums, synthesizer) combine different cultural and musical influences to create a unified electro-acoustic sound. As a transcultural project, EYPA attempts to break down the categorical separation between two cultures and create a new world.

EYPA's music contains elements of electronic dance, ambient, electro and downtempo. Synthesizers and e-oud create a rich texture of warm colors, while drums and percussion provide a captivating vibe and infectious groove. Composition and improvisation merge into a trance, making each live set a unique show.

Music workshop on communication and mindfulness - max. 20 participants

Before the concert, there will be the opportunity to take part in a special kind of workshop. People interested in music can expand their skills in communication, mindfulness and their knowledge of cultural diversity.

Topics

• Western and Arabic sound material: introduction to the sound worlds of both traditions and their creative combination.

• Communication: Deepening musical interaction through the principle of question and answer.

• Sense of time and mindfulness: Exercises for the perception of time and to promote presence.

Eyad Ghannam (1994, Damascus) is a musician and mindfulness coach from Mannheim. He studies Global Music with the main instrument Oud at the Popakademie Mannheim.

Paul-Aaron Wolf (1994, Mannheim) is a musician, producer and lecturer from Mannheim. He successfully completed his Master of Arts at the Popakademie Mannheim in 2024, majoring in drums and performance.
