The concert series Unknown Concerts - Voices Unheard creates concert moments that touch. The focus of the series is to give BIPoC and queer artists the stage they deserve - for a diverse concert scene in which structurally underrepresented perspectives are heard, celebrated and made visible. For 2025, the three-member, differently positioned team behind Unknown Concerts has planned two double concerts in the Schwankhalle and is looking forward to encounters between artists and an audience that is open to new sounds, voices and stories.
"Singing is my weapon," says Tehran-born singer and activist Faravaz. As a woman, she was not allowed to perform solo in Iran, sang underground, was arrested and eventually fled to Germany. Today she lives in exile in Berlin. Her music combines indie pop, trap and influences from Persian folk music with political lyrics. Her debut album "Azadi" was released in 2025. As the founder of the association "The Right to Sing e. V.", Faravaz campaigns for the rights of women and queer people in the Middle East. In 2022, she received the "Voices of Women for Change Award". The documentary "My Orange Garden" traces her artistic and personal journey.

Katanna can do karate - but also so much more. With cheeky flows and loud beats, "Dortmunds Herbste Maus" breaks through the monotony of the scene like a force of nature. With glitz, glitter and booming 808s, Katanna makes a sound that is uncompromising. From TikTok Trends to Telfar Bags, she represents Gen Z internet culture just as well as her high-rise estate roots. Katanna for the Girls, Katanna for Everyone!
Isi I is an artist from Dortmund who tells stories that you would normally only share with your best friend on the balcony at night. Between rap and melodies, she finds her very own sound: sometimes gentle and vulnerable, sometimes strong and full of attitude - but always with heart and message. Between catchy hooks and clear lines, Isi I talks about self-love, mental health, girlhood, dreams and the chaos of growing up. Isi is like the soundtrack to a coming-of-age movie: personal, approachable and full of power. For everyone who wants to celebrate themselves - precisely because they are still on their way.
