Fashion Liesel

A play by Traummaschine Inc. for everyone aged 9 and over

Once upon a time there was a queen who loved nothing more than beautiful clothes. The first thing she did when she woke up in the morning was to think about what she was going to wear, at lunchtime she often changed her outfit, and at night she dreamed of new, never-before-seen clothes. But one day there were only things in her wardrobe that she had worn before, how awful. Shake a tree, spin straw into gold, the queen needs new clothes!

Together with the audience, Traummaschine Inc. works on a piece about fashion and work: in the middle of the room is a giant knitting machine that creates something new from old clothes. Everyone helps with snipping, spinning and knitting. Working together is very cozy, but where does the fun end? Who owns the result of the work? And does everything the queen says have to be done? Preparatory workshops for school classes are offered for the new play by Traummaschine Inc. The workshops are also about taking part and trying things out together.

As a multidisciplinary ensemble,Traummaschine Inc. was awarded the City of Munich's theater sponsorship prize in 2022 for its achievements to date and its unusual artistic positions. The interdisciplinary composition of the group appeals to the audience on many levels: exciting stories meet subtle humor, socio-political topics meet magical moments, enlightenment meets the fantastic and musical pleasure meets unusual venues. In their productions "Die Beute. Ein Einbruch in das koloniale Labyrinth" as well as "skills and dreams" and "sweats", which were presented at PATHOS theater and schwere reiter, collectivity and participation are at the heart of the creative process. By collaborating with experts in the fields of costume, dance and visuals, as well as through a series of workshops at local partner schools, the collective aims to provide new impetus in children's and youth theater.

Supported by the Hamburg Ministry of Culture and Media, the Cultural Department of the City of Munich, the Performing Arts Fund with funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media and the Verband freie Darstellende Künste Bayern e.V. as part of the process funding of the "Freie Kunst 2025" funding package.
