Miriam Makeba (1932-2008) was the first African musician to become an international star. Throughout her life, she campaigned against the white apartheid regime in her homeland and had to live in exile for a long time. With the help of Harry Belafonte, she first came to the USA, where she performed at John F. Kennedy's birthday party, sang for Marlon Brando and had her first global hit with "Pata Pata". This moving documentary shows the life of this extraordinary artist, who caused a musical sensation for more than 50 years.
