Female Exile

Yildiz Çakar presents bold exile literature on violence, flight, and female perspectives through a reading and an artist's book.

Reading and book art: Yildiz Çakar is one of the most renowned Kurdish voices in contemporary literature, who also focuses on female perspectives. Her drama "not being able to remember" takes readers and audiences through experiences of violence, flight and exile in a poetic and allegorical way. With an exclusive artist's book with lithographs by Munich artist Raquel Ro, and in a reading with actress Tine Hagemann and Yildiz Çakar herself, the project opens up a space for exile literature that does not present itself as a victim, but speaks out courageously against oppression. The evening will be accompanied by an artist talk in which Suzan Çakar will also take part.
