A summer evening, a cool drink - and a good movie. What more could you want?
But what does a good movie actually mean? Far too often, mainstream cinema serves us stereotypical role models: male hero figures, heterosexual romantic dramas, women in passive supporting roles. Queer characters and people of color usually only appear in the margins - if at all. And FINTA* people are still severely underrepresented both in front of and behind the camera. The world is usually told from a white, cis-male perspective.
Our open-air cinema deliberately sets a counterpoint: we focus on self-determined protagonists, show stories from feminist perspectives - and break with the usual narrative patterns.
Whether Hollywood, documentary or indie - be surprised by our selection of films in the zakk beer garden. Everyone is welcome!
