If you look at the authors' careers, you might think that they have little in common: Diana Menschig studied psychology after graduating from high school on the Lower Rhine and then worked as an alflori lecturer, among other things. Florian Eichhorn, on the other hand, found his way into nursing as a working-class child from Gelsenkirchen. But while biographically speaking they lived very different lives, they both found their way into the world of fantasy literature - and seem to have found a very similar focus here: Because both dedicate their works to the idea that education and knowledge can pose a danger to unscrupulous rulers and encourage their readers to question social structures and their own beliefs.
In a discussion moderated by Essen-based poetry slammer Marius Hanke, aka Zwergriese, they talk about how fantasy can help us improve our real world. And they are sure to reveal more about their personal motivations and how these are also reflected at other levels of their working world. Among other things, Diana is a co-founder of the Fantasy Author Network (PAN) and Florian is a creative all-rounder who moves between books, poetry slams, calligraphy and the creation of life maps that can provide orientation and hope. Like immersing, experiencing and learning in the world of fantasy.
The FERNGESPRÄCH is a series of events throughout the Ruhr region that was initiated and coordinated by literaturgebiet.ruhr and funded by the Kunststiftung NRW.
