How does life go on after the occupying forces have left? For three years, SPLITTER FROM LIGHT - Уламки Світла accompanies five survivors in Butscha: a twelve-year-old schoolgirl, a young lawyer, a yoga teacher and a newly married couple. The turmoil of the disaster and a war raging across the country shatter their plans and dreams. They want nothing more than to rebuild their pre-war lives. Carrying the burden of trauma within them, they seem to face almost impossible tasks. Nevertheless, they show love, helpfulness and solidarity.

SPLITTER OF LIGHT - Уламки Світла is a tender, cinematic contemporary document that tells the universal story of war and its long-term consequences.

On Thursday, November 13, 2025 UM SPLITTER AUS LICHT will make a stop at the Friedrichsbau Lichtspiele at 18:00. Co-director Marcus Lenz and Freiburg senior public prosecutor and international law expert Klaus Hoffmann will be present as guests for a subsequent film discussion.
