West Bank, 1988: When the young Noor (Muhammad Abed Elrahman) is seriously injured during a demonstration, his mother Hanan (Cherien Dabis) begins to tell the moving story of her family. The story leads back to 1948, when Noor's grandfather Sharif (Adam Bakri) refuses to leave Jaffa in order to protect his house and the orange grove. But war, expulsion and imprisonment tear the family apart. Sharif's son Salim (Saleh Bakri) grows up in the shadow of his homeland, which he never really got to know. Decades later, when Noor protests against Israeli soldiers, history seems to repeat itself. But in their moment of greatest pain, Hanan and Salim make a decision for humanity, giving hope for reconciliation.

Inspired by the story of her own family, director and writer Cherien Dabis tells a touching portrait of three generations in the West Bank from 1948 to 2022 in THE SHADOW OF THE ORANGE (OT: ALL THAT'S LEFT OF YOU), in which personal fates and the history of a people are inextricably linked. IN THE SHADOW OF THE ORANGE TREE was selected as the Jordanian entry for the OSCAR™ 2026 in the "Best International Film" category.

After the screening, Mr. Riad Othman will be available to answer questions about the historical background. Riad Othman is a historian and humanitarian aid worker. He has been working for the aid and human rights organization medico international as an expert on Palestine and Israel since 2012.
