Filmvorführung: "Bigger Than Us" (Bonner Filmfair)

The initiative "Respect! Time for Diversity, Time for Sustainability" initiative of Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences and the city of Sankt Augustin invite you to a screening of the documentary film "Bigger Than Us". The screening is part of the Bonn Filmfair 2025 and admission is free.

They are young and they want to make a difference. 18-year-old Melati, who fought for a ban on single-use plastic on her home island of Bali with hundreds of young people, sets off on a journey around the world to exchange ideas with other young activists and learn from each other: In Lebanon, Mohamad (18) founded a school for the education of refugees; Memory (22) ensured that the legal age of marriage was raised from 15 to 18 in Malawi. Mary (22) rescues refugees from drowning in Greece, Xiuhtezcatl (19) draws attention to the urgency of climate change in the USA, Rene (25) campaigns for freedom of speech in Brazil and Winnie (25) offers a way to achieve food security in Uganda by helping people to help themselves. With their conviction and determination, they have all succeeded in making an important contribution to sustainable development.

At the end of the film by French director Flore Vasseur, there is a clear appeal to the audience not just to watch, but to become active themselves and join the global movement portrayed, which has long been more than the sum of its parts: "Bigger than us".
