Film screening NASIM

As part of the critical introductory weeks, the Aachen local group of ROSA Rolling Safespace e.V. will be showing the documentary NASIM by Ole Jacobs and Arne Büttner

CONTENT

Nasim, a 38-year-old Afghan woman, came from Iran in February 2020. She fled to Greece via Turkey. Moria, the largest refugee camp in the EU, was forced to become Nasim's place of residence. Together with her husband Shamsullah and their two sons Mohammad and Alireza, Nasim is trying to survive the hard life in the camp. She begins to question her emotionless forced marriage more and more. Her sister tries to motivate her to start a new, independent life, but Nasim's own insecurities and fears seem to stand in her way. In order to be allowed to stay in Europe, she has to pass her asylum interview together with her husband, whose past during the war in Afghanistan she barely knows. On the night of September 8-9, 2020, a major fire destroys the entire camp and Nasim and her family are left with nothing. Demonstrations, homelessness and police violence follow. But Nasim continues to fight for her future.
