On November 22, 2025, around a month before the official end of the exhibition "Silver Fever. Tarnowice Mining - the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Upper Silesia", a festive finissage with a guided tour and musical program will take place in the presence of Polish guests and the curator Mariusz Gąsior. The accompanying exhibition catalog will also be presented to the public for the first time as part of this event.
The exhibition has brought the German public closer to the eventful industrial history of Tarnowskie Góry - a town whose mining landscape has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2017. Through its German-Polish context, it underlines the importance of transnational perspectives and current trends in the communication of history. The wide-ranging presentation traces the history of mining in Tarnowice from its origins in 1490 through the economic boom in the Middle Ages to the decline of mining and its inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The historical border shifts and political upheavals in the region are also taken into account. In addition to numerous important exhibits from the economy, politics and everyday culture, the exhibition offers a well-founded insight into the multicultural history of Upper Silesia - and thus into a European heritage of particular topicality.
