FLÜGEL | Katharina Zipser

In the organizer's words:

Katharina Zipser (*1931) comes from Transylvania. In the 1950s, she studied fine art in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca/Cluj. In her mid-30s, she was legitimized as an icon painter by the Romanian Orthodox Patriarch. Her pictures - many painted in the old technique of egg tempera - combine the lifeworlds of her origins with the thoughts and hopes of a newcomer. At home in Germany for decades, Katharina Zipser seeks a dialog between here and there in her work.

The Schöne Höhe Gallery is showing selected works in collaboration with the cultural advisor for Transylvania, the Carpathian region, Bessarabia and Dobruja.
