"The digital euro - the money of the future?"

Digitalization is changing many areas of our lives and therefore also how we pay in everyday life. This raises the question of whether central bank money, which is currently only available to the general public in the form of cash, should also be available in a digital version. In the "Digital Euro" project, the Eurosystem is therefore looking at possible forms of such a digital central bank money for the euro area. The project is intended to herald the next stage in the development of central bank money and thus promises to be a decisive milestone in the history of European payment transactions.

Norman Isermann is a Bundesbank Director on the President's staff, Head Office in NRW. He will provide information on the current status of the project, the next steps and the potential uses of the digital euro.

In addition, the forum offers all interested parties the opportunity to discuss the opportunities and challenges of the digital euro with the speaker.
