Abstract photography detaches itself from the usual representation of reality, shapes, colors, lines and structures come to the fore - often without a direct reference to the recognizable motif. The result is images that leave room for interpretation and stimulate the imagination.
Photographers achieve this effect in a variety of ways: through targeted blurring, light and shadow contrasts, unusual perspectives, close-ups or motion blur as well as creative post-processing. Techniques such as multiple exposures also open up exciting creative possibilities.
The Fototreff Küstenblick, an association of ambitious photographers, meets regularly to exchange creative ideas. The group has been presenting its work in changing exhibitions for many years. The Bremerhaven City Library provides a permanent setting to introduce new photographic perspectives to an interested audience.
