World premiere - "DER HOCKER" on tour...
A portrait series by Markus Bronold
He has photographed over a thousand people.
Over a hundred were on the stool.
He is now showing a selection from the series for the first time in an exhibition.
An old wooden stool from a pub, no design classic, no charged symbolism
and yet it has become one of the most unlikely places that a photographer has ever
ever created so consistently:
a quiet, almost sacred place, in the middle of the set, in the middle of life.
On this stool sat celebrities who never let anyone else get that close, people
who nobody knows and who you never forget after this picture, loud and quiet,
Strong and vulnerable, simply people who show themselves without a mask.
In India, in Hamburg, in Iceland, in strange rooms, in nature.
On different continents. Always the same stool. Always a different person.
Always the same offer: "Take a seat. No one is watching. I'll wait."
What happens next cannot be planned, cannot be repeated, cannot be ordered.
Black and white, unretouched, without direction. Just a photographer waiting for that one
moment when someone has forgotten who they must be.
This series does not tell a single story, it tells the human one.
For the first time, some of these works are being shown in an exhibition.
For everyone who comes: You will see faces you know and faces you don't know.
do not know. Both will meet you. I promise.
The time has come.
Exhibition April 17 - 19, 2026 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Vernissage April 16, 2026 4 - 9 p.m.
