FRANK SCHEFFER - SHORT FILMS
Frank Scheffer | Netherlands 1987-2019 | ca. 85' | OmenglU
Dutch filmmaker and producer Frank Sche ffer has been busy for 40 years transforming his observations of (mostly) new music and contemporary art from three continents into cinematic works of art in their own right. With enormous productivity and great technical interest, he does not shy away from multiple uses of material once it has been filmed.
On the occasion of Scheffer's latest film HALF MOON (shown as the closing film of UNERHÖRT! 2025 on 2. November), the collaborative program of short films and excerpts from longer works shows a cross-section of Scheffer's work and leads from Eno to Stockhausen and Cage as well as Reich and Zappa, Bang On A Can and Elliott Carter, Squarepusher and DJ Spooky (and a few more) back to airport music - a trip through very different universes that share a curiosity about the experimental handling of sounds and an eloquent reflection on this curiosity and a knowledge that art is always being created anew.
Therefore, this event - in addition to the goal of making extremely rarely seen moving images better known - also aims to give performative expression to this constant becoming in the presentation form of the short films and film excerpts in this program.
