"Here, a representative of young contemporary literature dares to go the long haul, nonchalantly relying on the old magic of storytelling" -
This is what the Tukan Prize jury had to say about Pierre Jarawan's new novel, which combines historical events, such as the devastating explosion in the port of Beirut, with a moving family story. The result is a panorama that reaches far beyond the fate of the Middle East. "Woman in the Moon" (Berlin Verlag) is "told with intense imagery, in a warm, light tone", according to the jury, and as the conclusion of Pierre Jarawan's impressive Lebanon trilogy, it is his "most convincing literary book to date".
