Dancers from our region present new choreographies to music by female composers. Be it in concerts or on the radio: the music that is usually presented is almost always by men. But a look at the history of music shows that this fails to recognize the importance and creativity of women. Even female composers who were well-known, even famous, in their time are more or less forgotten. That is why we set out in search of musical works that are suitable as the basis for a dance work.
The interested choreographers received suggestions ranging from baroque to romanticism, jazz to the pioneers of electronic music, but also made many discoveries of their own. The result will be three evenings with a total of 25 choreographies; each of these evenings will be shown twice.
The dance scene in the Rhine-Neckar Delta will once again show its versatility in this project: artists who have been working in the scene for a long time will be taking part, as well as some students from Dance Professional Mannheim and the Academy of Dance. Of course, we also have guests, this time from Berlin and Brussels, as well as colleagues who were or are still engaged at the Nationaltheater Mannheim.
