In the organizer's words:

The External Operator project is based on a reflection on the loss of language and its effects on personal identity. The audience experiences a performance of sonic co-dependency in which two post-instrumental musicians form a symbiotic relationship with an External Operator who shapes their sound. With self-built instruments, motion-tracking gloves and a stage that focuses on electronics and light, the work evokes the phenomenon of loss of identity as a result of trying to fit in.

Info artist: Ilia Viazov

Ilia Viazov (* 1999 in Voronezh, Russia) is a composer, sound artist and recorder player. He began his professional musical training at the age of 16 as a bassoonist at the Voronezh Music Academy and then continued his studies at the Gnesin Family Music Academy in Moscow. He then attended the Moscow Conservatory and studied composition with Vladimir Tarnopolsky and Yuri Kasparov as well as electroacoustics with Nikolay Khrust and Alexey Nadzharov. Due to the measures taken by the Russian government and the war with Ukraine, he left his home country in October 2022. In October 2024, he continued his studies at the Lübeck University of Music as a Bachelor in Composition and Sound Art. He is currently studying with Nicola Leonard Hein and Milica Djordjević.

Ilia Viazov, Paulina Andrzejak and Diego Morales Castillo are a transnational trio that has been exploring sound spaces between electronic music, avant-garde and performance in Lübeck since 2024. Their work is characterized by personal narratives and interdisciplinary approaches, with which they deal with behavioral and philosophical concepts. In 2025, they were awarded first prize in the Possehl Foundation's Open Space Competition at the Lübeck University of Music.
