Fabian Scheidler counters the escalating logic of war in economics and geopolitics with the great civilization project of peacemaking, in which we defend and continue the achievements of 200 years of civil society and the world peace movement. In his new book, he uses the example of theaters of war such as Gaza and Ukraine, as well as the natural environment, to analyze how the logic of war systematically undermines a cooperative and rational logic of peace and constantly creates new enemies. The massive militarization also destroys the welfare state and blocks the chances of a socio-ecological transformation. In contrast, a logic of peace can build on a successful history of peace struggles, the concept of common security and the further development of civil institutions, especially the United Nations. This includes a peaceful transition from the disintegrating Western hegemony to multipolarity and cooperative world trade under the ethical umbrella of human rights and the rights of nature.

In thinking together ecology, the struggle for peace and a post-capitalist economy, a global movement with an ethic of reason, but also with love for our divided world, could gain new strength!
