The water system in Benrath Palace Park is a very early and rare example of the combination of garden design and flood protection and is an infrastructural monument in its own right. Architect and garden planner Nicolas Pigage used the park's water features for storage and retention in the event of flooding. From the outset, the system also included buildings in which rainwater was collected and in which water closets and baths were installed. The tour is dedicated to the historical flood protection system and the planned water management in the park of Benrath Palace. The basement of the main building and the park will be explored.
